Proper Nutrition
Proper nutrition is essentially giving what your body needs to support life. This means you need to feed the trillions of cells of your body with enough nutrients on a daily basis. Hence, cellular nutrition is more appropriate when you think of your weight loss goals and overall health. You get this from a
healthy diet
and good-quality
food supplements.
Watch the video below to learn more about the effects of diet on your brain function and behavior.
There are two groups of nutrients: macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients are those needed in large amounts. Micronutrients are those needed in small amounts.
Macronutrients:
Carbohydrates or carbs
- your primary source of fuel or
calories
Fats or Dietary Fats
– your major source of stored energy and fat-soluble vitamins. Also learn about the very important
omega-3 fats
and the harmful
trans fats.
Proteins
– for your growth, development, and tissue repair; essential element of enzymes and hormones
Fiber
- needed for a healthy digestive system
Water
– compose 60-70% of your body; needed for normal metabolic function
Micronutrients:
Vitamins
– help you regulate normal body functions and assist in energy production
Minerals
– major part of muscles and bones; help enzymes function
Many nutrients (mostly micronutrients) are categorized as essential because they cannot be produced by your body and must be taken in as part of your
daily diet.
This is why there is a wide variety of food supplements available in the market.
How does your food affect you?
Your diet is what you eat and drink. Your diet affects you – your
shape,
your skin, what you feel, and how you age. Do you really want to lose weight? Do you want to look five or 10 years younger? Do you want to have age-defying skin? Do you want to feel great?
One of the most important things that you need to do on a daily basis is to ensure that you give yourself a
balanced nutritious diet.
Take note, this is done on a daily basis.
