Have a healthy diet to lose weight safely
A
healthy diet
is one that helps you maintain or improve your health through proper nutrition. It is a lifelong diet. It is part of your healthy lifestyle. Feeding the trillions of cells of your body on a daily basis helps you prevent many health risks like obesity,
cardiovascular diseases,
diabetes,
and cancer. This can even help you if you are trying to conceive a baby!
You can improve the cleansing process in your body. You can burn fats and calories. And you can lose weight.
This involves consuming the appropriate amount of
nutrients
and
water.
You can get this from various food,
nutritious meal replacement,
and
food supplements.
A healthy diet supports you on your daily activities. You need more nutrients and
water
if you are more active. If you lack certain nutrients and/or water in your body, you increase the chances of experiencing health problems.
A weight loss program should be healthy and nutritious. You may have seen or known people, who looked haggard after a taking diet pills or a “crash diet”. This is simply because they did not get the nutrients they needed in their brief weight loss journey. You need to ensure that you get the nutrients and water you need in your weight loss journey.
As you improve your diet and lose weight, your body undergoes detoxification or cleansing. Cleansing can be as simple as your usual peeing, pooping, and sweating. Some
detox symptoms
may be uncomfortable. The detox symptoms are part of the healing process done by your body. Continue with your healthy diet. The discomfort most likely subsides when your body already releases most toxins in your body.
What happened to our food sources?
Today’s regular food sources, including fresh fruits and vegetables, are not the same as those decades ago. Many studies reveal that even fresh fruits and vegetables are not as nutritious as they were. The feeding methods and diet of animals have changed over the decades, which affected the nutritional value of their meat. Fish and other sea food are affected by pollutants like mercury, lead, and other toxic chemicals.
How many fruits and vegetables should you eat?
Do you know how many you should be eating per day for a healthy diet? Well, you are encouraged to eat seven to nine servings of fruits and vegetables per day for optimum wellness.
For vegetables, one serving means 1 cup chopped fresh vegetables, ½ cup cooked vegetables, or ¾ cup of vegetable juice.
For fruits, one serving means 1 piece of middle sized fruit, 1 cup chopped fruit, ½ cup berries, or ¾ cup of fruit juice.
What is the reason behind this quantity?
Fruits and vegetables provide various plant nutrients (called phytonutrients) to the different parts of your body. Notice that fruits and vegetables come in different colors. These colors are grouped into
seven (7) categories.
Each color gives you certain phytonutrients that help you improve your health. For example, the red group includes tomatoes, watermelon, and pink grapefruit. Those in the red group are rich in lycopene, which helps your body rid of free radicals that damage your genes. This nutrient also helps you fight against heart and lung diseases.
It can be difficult or inconvenient for you to eat this much considering the fast-paced lifestyle that many people have nowadays. And you may need to consume more depending on your age, gender, and lifestyle. These are the reasons why it may be better for you to take
nutritional supplements
daily as part of your healthy diet and lifestyle.

What's a healthy meal?
A healthy meal follows the nutrition pyramid below. You eat large portions (7 to 9 servings) of fruits and vegetables to get macronutrients
(carbohydrates,
proteins,
and
fats),
essential micronutrients
(vitamins
and
minerals),
and even some
water.
Your healthy meal must be a
colorful meal
to benefit from the various phytonutrients that help improve your immune system, enhance healthy cell regeneration and DNA repair, and prevent several cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, eye problems.
It is best for you to eat proteins -- 50% from fruits and vegetables and 50% from animals -- to get complete proteins for your body. 30% of your caloric intake should come from proteins. In terms of quality, the best protein sources are plants (for example, soy and nuts). The next would be fish and chicken, and then beef and pork. But avoid eating beef and pork because you are most likely to eat saturated fats together with their protein.
You also benefit from eating whole grains and whole grain products to get carbohydrates especially complex carbs for their
fiber.
Minimize or avoid food made of simple carbs. Junk foods are mostly made from simple carbs and give only
empty calories.
Eat some herbs and spices because they are rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients. For example, a teaspoon of thyme has about the same amount of antioxidants as a carrot. But do not replace carrots with thyme in your diet! There are other nutrients from carrots that you do not get from thyme. Get the picture?
Don't forget healthy fats and oils especially those precious
DHA+EPA omega-3 fatty acids.
Discover the healthy benefits you want to enjoy! These are essential for your proper nutrition at the cellular level.
It's a matter of striking a healthy balance of your sources of
nutrients.
Too much is bad. Too little is also bad.
The healthy quantities of food sources per meal depend on the amount of
calories
you get from the food you eat. Just remember that you must not go below 1,200 calories per meal.
Don't forget to drink water, okay?

A Healthy Nutrition Pyramid
Why do you eat?
You have trillions of cells in your body. You need
proper nutrition
from your healthy diet to feed each of them every day for your body to function normally. Eat for your cells, not for your cravings!
What must you do after losing weight?
Remember that after you have reached your ideal weight, you must continue with your healthy diet for the rest of your life. Otherwise, you will surely get back the weight you lost and put your health at higher risk again.
Health is a lifetime journey, not a one-day destination.
