Know your body fats!
You want to burn extra body fats. Why do you have excess fats? Where are they in your body?
What is being fat?
Being fat is a form of malnutrition. Malnutrition could be under or overnutrition. In this case, being fat is a case of lack of
proteins.
Usually, fat people eat too much
carbohydrates
or food rich in sugar. Another cause is drinking too much alcohol, which can also increase triglycerides ("blood fats"). It is common for people who want to lose weight to skip a
meal
or eat much less food (biscuits or a sandwich, for example). This could only add to their state of malnutrition.
It is possible for a person who does not look fat to actually have excess fats. This would mean that the person does not have a healthy amount of muscle mass. The best way to know about the amount of fat in your body is to undergo a body fat analysis.
Fats in your body
These are tissues used to store energy. They help regulate body temperature. They also insulate and cushion your body.- Visceral fats - These are also known as organ fats or abdominal fats. You may usually call this as belly fats. They are located around your internal organs (generally in your abdominal area). Men have more belly fats compared to women due to hormonal differences.
High level of visceral fat means high health risk. Visceral fat accumulation is associated with increased risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, type-2 diabetes, and stroke. For more details, please visit Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visceral_fat). - Triglycerides - These are produced by your liver and found in your bloodstream. High levels of triglycerides in your blood can lead to atherosclerosis, pancreatitis, chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular diseases, and stroke.
Info bits: The American Heart Association says that diets high in carbohydrates, with carbohydrates accounting for more than 60% of the total caloric intake, can increase triglyceride levels. - Subcutaneous fat - These are found under your skin, in your thighs, hips, and breasts. Women have more fats in these areas compared to men due to hormonal differences.
- Intramuscular fats - These are interspersed in skeletal muscles.
- Yellow marrow - These are found in your bone marrow.

Body fats and your heart
Like any other body tissue, body fats need to be supplied with blood. If you have excess fat in your body, your heart would need to pump harder. And you would be carrying the extra load 24 hours a day!
What if you have 10, 20, or even 50 pounds of excess fat? Your heart would always be working more than it should.
Excess fats or fatty deposits in your heart and the blood vessels are directly related cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Consult your physician to check your health in this aspect.
You need to do something about it. And you can!
Are you obese?
Obesity is both an individual clinical condition and is increasingly viewed as a global epidemic. When you have excessive body fats, you have higher risk to various health problems like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, stroke,
diabetes,
cancer, sleep apnea, infertility, carpal tunnel syndrome, reduced immunity, respiratory problems, liver disease, and lower back pain. Check your
body mass index,
waist-hip ratio,
and
body fat percentage
to know if you are obese or not. Be aware of your risk level.
If you are obese, you have low levels of adiponectin, which is a protein hormone that has anti-inflammatory effects on the cells lining the walls of the blood vessels. (Source: MedicineNet.com) This aggravates your health condition and further increases your risk to chronic diseases.
Info bits: An American Cancer Society study showed that overweight women (BMI > 25) are 1.3 to 2.1 times more likely to die from breast cancer compared to women with normal BMI. (Source: http://www.cancer.org/downloads/STT/CAFF2005BrF.pdf Page 11).
When you reach your ideal weight, stick to a healthy diet, regularly exercise, and have a healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life.
